My Fitness Journey

A little introduction about who I am.

Hi, my name is Jan, and welcome to my fitness blog.

I love writing, working out, and cuddles with my cats. I live on an island by the beach, which is the backdrop in my rooftop workout videos!

I started this blog because I wanted to share my journey of improving my life. You will like my content if:

  • You have bad posture and want to fix it
  • You were/are self conscious at using a gym
  • You want to improve your mental health

How it all started

It all began in 2021. Seems like a lifetime away, as it was the COVID era. I had been struggling in all aspects of my life. I was feeling the weight of moving to a new country, and feeling completely alone. My eating habits had taken a turn, and I was experiencing low moods constantly.

I was really struggling in my professional and personal life to settle down.

One day I looked in the mirror and it hit me that I did not look like I did in my early 20s. I started to scroll through photos, and the person I saw was someone different.

I decided enough was enough, and decided then on to focus on my fitness and improve my health.

The 5 years that followed

So I made the decision to be healthy. Now what?

I was scared of going to the gym. I had no idea how to squat. And cooking? In that tiny kitchen in my micro-flat? I felt like I had a hard journey ahead of me.

I started researching fitness classes and came across a gym called Power Boxing Fitness. I thought it was a powerlifting and boxing gym, and wanted to learn how to lift weights. Upon my trial class, I realised it was just a boxing gym, and “power” is what they shouted at you to make you punch harder.

I loved it. The gym was close to my flat, and classes were cheap. Professional boxers who had fighting experience were giving the classes.

I signed up for unlimited classes and started attending 5-7 hours a week for 2.5 years straight. I learnt how to box, improved my agility and endurance, and yes, I also learnt how to squat and lift weights. It was the best decision I ever made.

During this time, I also bought some Emsculpt treatments as a treat for working hard at my second job. This treatment helped strengthen my core dramatically, and improved my boxing skills. I would honestly HIGHLY recommend this treatment if you have the cash.

After 3 months of boxing, I also signed up for a gym for the first time. The confidence I had gained from boxing was life-changing.

2026, and beyond

Nowadays, I am taking Yoga and Barre classes. I am firmly committed to improving my body alignment, as this makes a difference to weight training in the gym.

I also hope to make fitness content for a living one day. I want to create videos, post helpful blog posts and even share some stories and experiences of my life.

I have plans to become a certified PT and progress onto specialised certs. Additionally, I want to explore the mobility space, as I want this to be part of my life now. I am excited for the future, and I would love to see you there with me!
